About Saba

Saba Imani

Contemporary Artist

I am Saba Imani. In creating my works, I have been mainly influenced by outdoor spaces; spaces that were shaped by the reflection of a little girl’s presence. Gradually, I distanced myself from those spaces, and soon urban environments and girls were replaced by trees, power towers, and abandoned structures in nature. A visible landscape emerged with a sense of anxiety over the end of an event or the beginning of a new one.

The process of creating my works feels like a period of pregnancy to me. Since I am not tied to a specific subject or technique, I can allow themes to settle within me and gradually take shape. Sometimes, materials like handmade paper can captivate me. Recently, I have been increasingly drawn to empty mental spaces, and I am searching for ways to connect these two.
